May 2009: Dormani Hotel, Kuching

Ill start my blog with this entry about a Hotel in Kuching Sarawak. Soon, when i travel again I'll post more about another hotel too..

1. The Name Reflects Your Identity

When i first saw it's name.. puzzled. In Malay they sound weird..

A coursemate (I was in Kuching to attend a course in early May 09) ask me...
_______________________________________________
friend: "where's the provided hotel?" (urusetia yang sediakan..)
me: "uh? the hotel? its Dorm-Ani..". (Ani's Dorm)

then she start to laugh..

Well, people.. Hati-hati dengan nama yang kita beri.. Kadang-kadang kedengaran menarik, tapi memberi identiti yang tak menarik pulak dari satu segi yang lain... kan?

Moral of the story: "When i have children soon, I'll try to give them meaningful names.. not weird ones.."

2. The Location

Situated in the heart of Kuching City. Across the famous "nasi ayam penyet" (ayam tu dipenyekkan... nasik ni ada ulaman dan ayam) restaurant. 5 minutes stroll to mosque. 15 minutes walk to shopping complex. Nampak la jugak bumbung bangunan Dewan Undangan Negeri Sarawak yang baru tu.. Walking distance to Kuching Waterfront. (still, penat jugak woo!) BUT.. I'd say, STRATEGIC!

Lot 68, Jalan Datuk Ajibah Abol
93400 Kuching, Sarawak

3. Rooms & Rate

I'm not sure about other room, but the one that i was checked-in to was pretty small. but it's the corner room. I think i have the best view since i can see hubby came to fetch me up. Oversee the main road, the mosque, and all that. I think its single room. but the bed was quite funny. It's a single bed, and another one.. tarik, keluar pulak lagi satu katil.. tu kira double ke? price around RM170.00++. Something amazed me.. actually banyak benda la.. everything la tu kan. The wardrobe i suppose.. is not actually a wardrobe. Nampak macam dinding yang covered by wood to look like a wardrobe.. Yang syoknya tu.. ada pulak besi utk gantung hanger.. tapi unfortunately hanger pulak takde. camana nih?? Maybe because it's a new hotel, so they send you food like chocolates twice daily. Syiok!! Hehe. And they give you toiletries on daily basis.. so I have a looooooot of toiletries collecttion! (its my hobby just so u know..)

4. Yummy Food!

I don't know about lunch and dinner.. but the breakfast was.. YUMMY! ( i sleep at father in-law's home, but go to course from this hotel, and hubby fetch me up after work from there too..) .
lot of food to try and they have different recipe daily. of course the so-called western menu nampak sama je tiap hari.. I dont think they need to serve western food because obviously we're in Sarawak, not Aussie or something. Kalau nak western balik negeri omputeh laaa! tak pun pegi restoran kat luar je. Our hotel should reflect our culture!!! and liquor + western food are not ours!!!

5. Fill in this form if you want to borrow out umbrella...

This one is quite funny too. I dont expect I'll see such thing coming. Kelakar tak.. Nak pinjam payung kena isi borang dulu. Takkan nak pinjam payung untuk naik transport pun nak charge? We're still coming back to the hotel since our baggage are still in the hotel? I've never seen any hotel do this before.. *Scratch scalp

I will upload the photos as soon as i can retrieve my memory card..

Pic blogging?

Dah lama la sangat tak post apa2. Bersawang dah blog. Tu yg blog pun mcm rumah puaka tak de penghuni.. masuk keluar masuk keluar tak update apa2 pun... Jadi aku buat keputusan nak buat mcm micro-blogging.. tapi pakai gambar dan sedikit caption.. Ini dia gambar pertama. .............. Terkejut tadi tengok apa benda yg melekat kat cermin penumpang belah belakang kereta. Bila tgk dalam, rupanya anak aku punya kerja. Semalam dpt sticker, dia bantai lekat kat dlm kereta.. tergelak sorang bila teringat. Anak aku yg sorang je tu dah 4thn umurnya. Dah dihantar ke sekolah supaya dia ada kawan bermain.. maklumlah.. anak sorang.. belum ada rezeki anak lagi satu...

June 2008: Tanjong Balau Beach, Desaru, Kota Tinggi, Johor Bahru.

During my stay at JB, I managed to go to Tg Balau Beach, Desaru. From Drop Box If youre driving, than it's cheaper compared to renting a car or something. Its more expensive by taxi. I think it took 2 hours drive, plus LOST since I couldnt remember the road.. dont blame it on me?! the road look different from last time, 2005. From JB to Kota Tinggi takes 1 n 1/2 hours considering all the traffic jam on the way out of the city. Then from Kota Tinggi to Desaru approx. 40 minutes. The road might be tricky, so watch for the word Desaru, then Tg Balau on the signboard coz they will definitely help you. Not much to look at during the drive.. expect for hugeeee palm plantations.. Tg Balau is a masterpiece. Facing the South China Sea, clear water, blue sea, and not too many people like in Desaru beach. The one that im showing you in the pic is on the other side of the beach, you can ask for direction to go to the 'jetty' they call it. Or if they dont understand just tell them '...
